Pamir Law Group Sponsors the HIV/AIDS Summit
Pamir Law Group is a proud sponsor of the the HIV/AIDS SUMMIT, an informative session aimed at creating awareness about the human and economic impact of the disease on businesses in Taiwan.
The session will take place at The Grand Hyatt Taipei on July 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. and it will feature presentations by Dr. Anthony Pramualratana and Regan Hofmann.
Dr. Anthony Pramualratana was recently appointed Program Director at the Asia-Pacific Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS.
Launched in 2006, the Asia Pacific Business Coalition on AIDS supports the establishment and coordination of country-level business coalitions through out the Asia Pacific region. The APBCA network of business coalitions collaborate to assist companies manage the impact of the HIV epidemic on their business and the communities in which they operate.
Regan Hofmann is responsible for the editorial direction of the award-winning, monthly publication, POZ magazine. Her vision includes raising awareness of HIV/AIDS, highlighting how the profile of the epidemic has changed dramatically to include women and people of color and fighting the stigma that has barely lessened in a quarter of a century since the disease was first identified. Hofmann believes that combating stigma is key because fear of stigma prevents people from talking about HIV/AIDS, which, in turn, hampers education and prevention efforts and compromised the level of care people get for themselves.
"The UNAIDS Survey in 2006 found that 80% of Taiwan companies do not consider HIV/AIDS to have an impact on their business. A lack of knowledge and understanding in the workplace can result in fear and negative attitudes between employees, which lead to workplace conflict and overall business mismanagement. It is clear, if companies treat HIV/AIDS as a business issue they will efficiently and effectively manage these risks."
