Partner Nicholas V. Chen has been selected as the winner of the 2009 Client Choice Award for M&A in Taiwan by London-based International Law Office (ILO).

Partner Nicholas V. Chen has been appointed Vice Director of the International Committee of the Taiwan M&A and Private Equity Council, along with representatives from Citibank Taiwan and Taiwan Development Industrial Bank.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) announced earlier today a US$200 million settlement of the actions brought in California State Court against Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) in 2006 related to SMIC’s misappropriation of TSMC trade secrets and breach of a 2005 settlement agreement between the two companies.

The Angel Island Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote a greater understanding of Pacific Coast immigration and its role in shaping America’s past, present and future.

Nicholas Chen presented AALDEF’s 2009 Justice in Action Award to civil rights lawyer Dale Minami at its 35th anniversary charity dinner at Pier 60 in New York City before 700 attendees. Minami headed the legal team that set aside US vs. Korematsu, one of the US’s most infamous Supreme Court cases violating civil liberties of citizens during World War II.
